About Walter Communications
Founded by a professional services insider who has witnessed the inspiring qualities of passionate experts, Walter Communications helps companies transform their brightest minds into their agents. We collaborate with a network of independent specialists with related skill sets, including: new media marketing strategist Holly Berkley, writer and web producer Liz Batchelder, creative director Frank Doyle and publicists Kenny Caldwell and Yosh Asato.
Amanda Walter, founder and CEO, spent 15 years inside professional service companies, primarily in the industries designing and planning the built environment. Most recently, Amanda served as Director of Media Relations for AECOM, the industry's largest architecture and engineering design firm. Amanda held this position during a time of profound change for the Fortune 500 company, and assumed a leadership role in both internal and external aspects of its worldwide communications program that rolled out an enterprise-wide reorganization, consolidated more than 20 legacy brands and launched its new singular brand globally. Before joining AECOM's corporate communications department, Amanda was Communications Director for the renowned design and planning firm EDAW, Inc., which became part of AECOM in 2006. She built EDAW's global communications program with an emphasis on strengthening the firm's reputation with the press and the design community. With author Barbara Faga, Amanda published and promoted EDAW's first book, Designing Public Consensus (Wiley 2005), which continues to be required reading for many graduate-level design and planning students in the United States. She also led all aspects of communications during the firm's acquisition by AECOM. Amanda has also worked in IT consulting and the action sports industries in strategic marketing and communications capacities. She holds a bachelors degree in journalism with a minor in art history from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
